MHRR Rallyiom

David Cain

Dave started rallying as a driver aged 17 in a home built Mini 1275 GT Clubman, before moving on to rallying various Talbot Sunbeams before taking a break from competing for 10 years.

A comeback to rallying in 1997, co-driving for Chris Bridson in a Ford Escort XR3, before transferring to a very successful Vauxhall Nova GSi (Group N2), winning the class in both the Manx National Rally and Manx Trophy Rally 1998.

1999 saw a move to an ex-works Peter Christian Rapid Fit Mk 5 Escort RS2000... which seemed to be the curse for the pairing! Major accidents in the Manx National and Sony Manx International Rally almost saw the car written off.

John Corlett

Being schoolmates John and Dave started rallying at about the same time.

John has competed in many events both on and off the island, mainly driving Mk1 and Mk2 Escorts.

John did once rashly drive a four wheel drive beast, a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo2.

A win on the Manx Auto Sport Easter Stages Rally in the Evo was John's best result, and it was soon to be sold on to allow the build of "Ruby" above, which was finished building on the afternoon of the Manx historic Rally in 2007!

John is a former Manx Stage Rally Champion Driver, and Multiple Manx Road Rally Champion. Regular co-driver is Roy Sweetman, others have been Andrew "Don't you dare lift you tart!!" Holmes, and Chris Caley.
